Joanna Gwozdz was born in Lublin, Poland. After graduating from the University of Maria Curie-Sklodovska (Lublin, Poland) and receiving her Master's Degree in Law, she decided to come to the United States and continued her legal education in New York. She received her Master Degree in Law from Touro Law School in 2007. After graduating Touro Law School, she joined the estate-planning firm of Connors and Sullivan, PLLC and in 2009 she was admitted to New York Bar Association.
In June 2014, she opened her own practice. Her reputation for excellence in legal advocacy and for serving clients with skill and prowess has been established over the course of her career.
She presents seminars on Trust and Estates, Medicaid and asset protection and serves as an advocate for the Polish American Community in New York. Fully fluent in Polish, she represents Polish-speaking clients to assure that they are provided with accurate translation.
Practice areas
Mrs. Gwozdz focuses her law practice on counseling families and individuals in the areas of Elder Law, Estate Planning, Trusts and Estates, Estate Administration and Asset Protection. She advises clients how to avoid probate and protect their assets, how to plan for long-term medical expenses and how to obtain Medicaid (Nursing Home and Home Care Services). She also helps executors, administrators, families and other individuals to go through difficult court proceedings and assists in the administering of decedent's estates.
Community and recognition
Mrs. Gwozdz dedicates her time and efforts to voluntary and charity work, serves as a Member of the Board of Directors (2016–present) of The Children's Smile Foundation in New York City, which provides financial support for disadvantaged children in need of medical and financial assistance.
